First Response Team
In many urgent situations, every minute that goes by before the ambulance arrives can be critical. That is precisely why there is a First Response Team in Mattice. This small group of volunteers has received in-depth First Responder training and can respond to emergency calls and provide basic medical care at the site of the incident, until the paramedics arrive. To allow them to perform their duties, an ambulance equipped with medical supplies and tools is available to the team, along with a snowmobile and sleigh to respond to accidents occurring out in the bush. The sleigh can be used to transport patients to the ambulance.
The Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board (CDSSAB) provides operational support and directs the members of the Mattice First Response Team.
It is important to remember that:
-
since the team is made up of volunteers, it will respond to calls based on the availability of its members; and
-
the team cannot transport any patient by ambulance.
